A Terrific Case of Branding

Stranger Things has obviously killed it with outstanding ratings and a crew of amazing actors. The most amazing feat, however, lies with their tremendous branding. The show brands itself as not only a thrilling series of unnatural events, but also an ever-evolving stream of conflict that drives a thrilling fear through the viewers. Additionally, the brand extends to its actors, who actually personify their characters in off-screen media.

This brand has the opportunity to send a powerful message to all those enamored with the show. It embraces the positive effect of teamwork and loyalty. A popular line quoted by characters throughout both seasons, “Friends don’t lie, and they shouldn’t keep secrets from each other either”, gives a friendly reminder of these important characteristics, time and time again.

Content, Content, and More Content

Stranger Things has become a name beloved by all. Fans want more and more content related to the ever enchanting characters and who they are in real life. The young characters especially have given the show an edge, as they have proven that great acting can really be found at any age. These actors really are the brand, and as they grow with the show, views and ratings will only continue to skyrocket.

Kids have begun to take on these adult roles in other shows, and Shameless is another great example. Their great trials in the television shows allow views to get a glimpse of their own early hardships, but with a sense of humor to lighten the mood.

As avid Stranger Things followers, we only want one thing. MORE.

Season three is on the horizon, and the producers, writers, and actors of Stranger Things have done a great job keeping us all on our toes.

Branded-as-Brothers

The Duffer brothers are very well known in the media industry right now due to their unbelievable success with Stranger Things since 2016. Ross and Matt Duffer grew up in North Carolina, graduated from Chapman University, and have continued a life-long passion of writing scripts and making movies. (You may have heard of Hidden, from 2015, their first actual movie.)

Vulture wrote an entire article about their personal and professional experiences, and what led to this recent sensation. You can read the article at <http://www.vulture.com/2017/08/the-duffer-brothers-upside-down-journey-to-stranger-things.html>

This is a success story, and it has reached and touched so many people’s lives. Thank you Duffer brothers.

Character Branding

Some of our favorite characters from the show stepped out on the red carpet for the American Music Awards this past Sunday. Many sources have written about this exciting occasion already, but I snagged these pictures from DailyMail.com.

Some juicy drama has also followed two of these actors in particular: Caleb McLaughlin and Sadie Sink. The controversy has covered whether or not the creators of the show, Ross and Matt Duffer, had the right to write-in an on-screen kiss between Caleb and Sadie. Sadie reported feeling uncomfortable and caught off guard by the direction, although her and Caleb walked down the red carpet looking friendly as ever.

Even with this recent controversy, fans are overjoyed by seeing their favorite tv show characters come to life and incorporate themselves into the Hollywood Lifestyle. With (hopefully) many more seasons to come, nothing can stop the show in its tracks right now.

Mobile App

In case the two seasons on Netflix are not satisfying your Stranger Things obsession, there is also an app: Stranger Things: The Game.

You can go to the app store on both iPhone and Android products to get involved with this 4.8 star rated, role playing game. This game has 4.55K ratings and has already become a hit. Kill your own monsters and feel the same rush of adrenaline with some hands-on experience.

Netflix Takes on a Winner

July 2016 was an exciting time for Netflix as Stranger Things became an immediate hit upon its release. This show gives viewers a taste of horror mixed with 80’s pop culture. Stranger Things has become a hit for a few reasons, and a large social media following is one of the biggest.

Within 24 hours of the second season release, viewers mentioned the show over 670,000 times across various social media platforms. This accounts to an almost 4,000% increase of social media buzz from the first season. Stranger Things has given the internet something to talk about, and outlook for the series is only positive.

Fans are having fun talking about the characters because of how well the show has characterized the young adults who really keep the show moving. There is also a sense of nostalgia as viewers think back to their lives and friendships at this young age. As a fan myself, I can say that I am attached to the show not only because of how relatable the characters are in a general sense, but also because I can now relate to others on social media who are talking about it.
